J'Adorn Designs by Alison Jefferies

Baltimore jewelry artist Alison Jefferies sits at her jeweler's bench in her custom jewelry design studio in Historic Savage Mill, in Howard County, Maryland.

Jewelry for life's biggest moments, and the little ones in between.

Welcome to J'Adorn Designs, a full service custom jewelry studio near Baltimore, Maryland! My name is Alison (although I typically go by "Ali") and I'm the artist & jeweler behind J'Adorn Designs. I go by many titles because I wear all the "hats" in this one-woman small business; some of my favorites include designer, artist, metalsmith, CEO, and custom jeweler.

Sources of Inspiration

As a designer, I'm inspired by botanical and fluid forms, which feature prominently in my work from cast natural objects and wax carvings/sculptures to more interpreted elements expressed through fabricated and wire-wrapped pieces. Much of my work features colorful gemstones, which I incorporate via cast-in-place, traditional stone setting, and beadwork. Another primary source of inspiration is the tradition of family heirlooms, which I believe reflect what we value most and have the power to shape the future. In that spirit, I seek to create meaningful pieces with the intention of comfortable wear and longevity for people of all genders, from all walks of life.

Meet the Artist

I discovered my passion for personalized accessories in late 2011 when I was planning my wedding and was dissatisfied with the jewelry offerings I found at bridal shops. I opted to make a set of matching jewelry for my own bridesmaids instead, and just a few short months later opened an online shop for my creations.

I was a self-taught jewelry designer and artisan when I founded J'Adorn Designs in early 2012. Through continued education in metalsmithing, collaborations with other artists, and countless hours of studio practice, I have been refining my craft ever since with the goal of offering heirloom quality jewelry that will stand the test of time. I pride myself on the meticulous attention to detail, high quality, and intuitive customer service for which my work has become known.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How soon can I expect to receive my jewelry after I place an order?

If you purchase jewelry from the pre-designed collections in our online shop, you can expect to receive your order within 4 to 6 weeks of placing your order.  This timeframe is due to the facts that we are a small, one-person business and that each piece is made to order, which enables us to easily accommodate customization requests. (Note: If you would like us to make customizations to your order, please make your request via our contact form prior to purchasing to ensure that we can make the changes you desire.)

For custom and bespoke jewelry, a minimum of 8 to 12 weeks is typical. Details for individual custom orders will be determined during our consultation and reflected in each individual contract.

Rush orders can be placed by request. We take these on a case by case basis, and potential expedition costs are covered by the client.  Please feel free to reach out with any questions if you need to place a rush order!

What is your policy on returns?  What if my jewelry purchase breaks?

Jewelry may be returned for a store credit if it is sent back in new condition with its receipt and original packaging within 30 days of the original purchase. Store credit for jewelry received as a gift will be issued, if the item in question is still being sold in our online shop, at the item's current selling price.

Any piece of jewelry you purchase comes with a guarantee that it will last you in a durable way. If your piece breaks due to regular wear and tear within six months of purchase, just send it back along with your receipt and we will replace or repair it for free. Returns after the six months mark will be done on a discretionary basis with applicable fees determined by case.

What type of metals do you use?

Our handcrafted jewelry uses a variety of metals to offer a broad price and quality range.

From the pre-designed line of jewelry, most of our work is made from solid 14k gold, sterling silver, bronze, gold- and rose gold-filled metals. Wedding fashion styles and hair accessories are made with plated metals but completely hypoallergenic, with details like sterling silver earring posts to ensure your comfort while wearing our jewelry. All metal types are noted in the individual product descriptions and we can customize most pieces to accommodate your special needs and requests.

For custom orders, we offer a broad range of options for metals and we will work with you to determine what metal option is the best choice for your particular design.
